Hi, I try to use FR to forwarding access-request to NPS servers, but some reason FR/NPS gives "User password is incorrect" message. I have tripple check that password is correct. When i test IAS to NPS proxy it works. I have enable in NPS side MS-CHAP-v2, MS-CHAP, CHAP and PAP/SPAP methods. Any clue what is wrong? Certificate-based client side authentication towards a website with freeradius

Hello all, we're trying to setup a freeradius / apache installation that allows us to authenticate and authorize users with *certificates* towards a website. Is there a good tutorial out there somewhere? We did only finde partial information that seems to be quite old unfortunately. Or could somebody who is deep into this matter please give some advice or ideas how we can solve our task? Best regards M

Adding Multiple Cisco-AVPairs using rlm_perl

I have a rlm_perl script where i'd like to return multiple Cisco-AVPair attributes in an Access-Accept response. Since rlm_perl is passed hashes for RAD_REQUEST, RAD_CHECK, and RAD_REPLY, is there a way to pass an array as the value for the Cisco-AVPair hash key? If not, is there another way to do this? FR 2.1.8 Issue - Unjustified(?) Access-Rejects.

Hi, We migrated to 2.1.8 (from 2.1.7) last week while things were quiet, as the users have re-appeared after the holiday we've started to receive a few reports from users stating that they have been getting lots of prompts for credentials. Two users in particular, both Ubuntu users, have been having big problems. I had a look at the radpostauth table and sure enough at least 50% of their auth attempts have resulted in access-rejects. I rolled back to 2.1.7 this afternoon and the problem has gone away. Should anyone be interested I have attached an radmin output for one of the users, it shows some accepts and lots of rejects. Is this likely to be a configuration error (no changes were made to the 2.1.7 config), or a bug? Thanks, Jezz Palmer.

Hello, I just subscribed so I won't be able to quote properly but I hope at least the message is associated with the right thread (I found it on the web archive of the mailing list). I've been using FreeRADIUS for about 4 year now and it is a wonderful product - there's no question why you're No 1! For the past years of using and developing rlm_perl modules for FreeRADIUS, I've only been astonished and happy because of the new functionalities etc that the development team have been adding to the new releases. Just to clarify my questions: If one of the servers I'm proxying to is dead, is there a way to reduce the number of times freeradius tries before failing over to the next one? 2. Failover Configuration

I am attempting to use freeRadius to perform the following: Send Request to our Corporate Radius Server for Two Factor Auth If the corporate Server is Unavailable, doesn't respond or if the user is not found, then Use Auth-Type LDAP to Authenticate to our local LDAP repository If the Corporate Raidus Server is available, finds the user and sends an Access-Reject response, the local LDAP Authentication should not be attempted at all and the user denied access. I have freeRadius configured to proxy to the Corporate Radius server and it works great. I also have freeRadius configured to Authenticate users against LDAP. However, I cannot get them to work together as "Try Corporate first, then local LDAP second". I did get this working, sort of.... My first request to the proxy server will timeout as the proxy can't reach the corporate server. If I wait 30 seconds, the corporate server will be marked as "dead" and LDAP will be used instead. However, some users will be authenticated by corporate Radius server and additional users will be authenticated by the Local Radius server via LDAP. Telling a user to wait 30 seconds to login is probably not going to fly very far. I'm really not looking for troubleshooting help... but more of "best practice" using freeRadius. ie. Do I put the LDAP authentication into a virtual server (which I have working)? Do I use the proxy functionality to call the corporate RADIUS server (I also have this working). Do I use the module fail-over logic to first somehow invoke the proxy logic to call the Corporate server, then use the proxy module (if there is one which can be called) return codes to conditionally call the ldap authentication module? Our local LDAP repository does include ALL of our UNIX users. The Corporate RADIUS contains a subset of our UNIX users who are enabled for Two Factor Auth. Do I add a Radius attribute to each users's object in our local LDAP, which indicates which ones should be proxied to the corporate RADIUS server (I want to avoid the administrative burden of this)? And if what I am doing is best practice, why isn't it working the way I think it should? So I guess many of you will want to see debug output... here is debug output showing a test of the corporate RADIUS server being unavailable/down and failover to local LDAP authentication: Request 1) Tries corporate with proxy - Fails Request 2) Tries corporate via proxy again - Fails and marks server as "dead" Request 3) Does not try corporate at all and authenticates via LDAP - Success. WPA Certificate Question

I was able to get freeradius 2.1.3 and wireless WPA working, likely due to the fact that FreeRadius was mostly configured for me (thanks ;) ). I’m a little confused about the certificate that is required in the process, and what the relationship is with the client, the Wireless Controller and the FreeRadius server. The README file states: “ In general, you should use self-signed certificates for 802.1x (EAP) authentication.” Why self signed versus CA signed? Ideally I would like my clients to not be questioned about the certificate at all. Is that even possible with WPA? If I purchase a CA signed cert, would that eliminate the requirement on the client to acknowledge the certificate or import it? -Mike
