Hi Guyz, Using freeradius with mysql for authentication 'n accounting and it works well. Clients get authenticated and kicked when time is up. Now need to send bandwidth control parameters (WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Up + WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down) to my NAS My NAS supports traffic shapping and these atribs specifically (WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Up and WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down). Just need some help with example of records to add in radreply, radcheck and an entry counter.conf Any lead to a documentation that can help will be highly appreciated. Grace

Failed creating handler

Hi, I'm running FreeRADIUS 2.1.11 on Gentoo compiled with specific patches (qafixes, versionless, pkglibdir) and a small patch of my own (byminute, adds an extra var in xlat.c, nothing big). I'm experiencing a weird crash of which I've found absolutely nothing online: "Failed creating handler". Source code says this one comes from src/main/event.c when calling fr_event_insert() but I can't figure out anything else. The server does decoupled accounting, one site has only one module in accounting, rlm_detail and the other listens on the detail logs with only one module in accounting, rlm_python. cleanup_delay is 5, max_requests 10240, 16 threads, max_requests_per_server = 1500 Any idea what could be the problem? tx, amne

..::Restrict local users::..

Hi Everyone. we would like to know if there's a way to reject access to the local users, that's because we discover that if you have a system account you may login on the radius server. I have the teory that if we use the rlm_passwd module we can reject the access to the "local group", I search on the man rlm_passwd file and it has examples of the configuration. The only thing that I don't understand is how radius know which file to check. I mean if I put a file with our group information, how can I tell radius to check that file? I have the group file on the /etc/ and the smbpasswd example on /etc/raddb/modules/ I've checked all the raddb directory files looking for any option without luck. What am I doing wrong? Any advice will be appreciated. Alfonso.

Authentication Problem

Hi , I have been using freeradius-server-2.1.10 . Dialupadmin is using for web based administration. It was working fine till yesterday. I have changed added attribute to check Max-All-Session. Then I have face problem of No authenticate method (Auth-Type) found for the request: Rejecting the user however the authorized section is working fine. After googling i have check with option default Auth-Type = Local but it was not success. this error occurs for new create user only , old user are authenticating normally. I have revert back my changes with removing attribute to check Max-All-Session but still the error exists. Please advise me. Regards, John

simultaneous-use with checkrad

Hi I know its not the best way to do it but I would really like to use simultaneous-use attribute without using the checkrad script. meaning the radius server does the check in radacct table and if the check is true, deny authentication. is this possible? I am using sql and in the radgroupcheck table i have simultaneous-use := 1 and in sites-enabled/defaults under session I have sql selected and the query is present in sql/mysql/dialup.conf is it possible for the freeRADIUS server to do this? Migrating to threaded rlm_perl

Hi everyone! Please, help me with understanding of concept how to rewrite my perl module to work with threaded perl. Now it looks like this: my %options_pools = (create=>1, exclusive=>0, mode=>0644, destroy=>1); tie my %pooldb, 'IPC::Shareable', $pools_glue, { %options_pools } or die "Tie failed: $!\n"; ... code to fullfill shared segment ... sub post_auth { ... $RAD_REPLY{'Framed-IP-Address'} = "$pooldb{$rpool}{$RAD_REQUEST{'Calling-Station-Id'}} ... %up= fetch_url("$https_host","$https_xml","$RAD_REQUEST{'User-Name'}"); } sub fetch_url { ... using Net::HTTP i retrieve some additional stuff from billing. ... } While non-threaded perl it works as expected. But threading breaks creation of Shared memory (cuz it want to do it for every thread). I also wonder, do i need to post &fetch_url inside CLONE sub or not. So, the main question: is there any part of code in rlm, that suppose to run only once ( create shared memory in my situation) or how to correctly solve problem with IPC within the confines of freeradius. Dynamic Clients IP Best practice?

I unfortunately have a large amount of hotspots that are behind dynamic ip's. We have tried to get as many of them onto statics as possible but are having issues with that. After having read through a few dozen different threads and readmes does freeradius have something that has been put into place to address this?( I assume the answer is no or I glazed over while reading and missed the answer) . If there is no built in feature is there a best practice for this? Reverse DNS and / or VPN tunnels are the 2 solutions I can think of that would secure the nas check. Is there something else I am missing I can read up on and look into? Thanks Brent
