Hi everyone, Our (Red Hat) QA was testing the effect of this entry in 3.0.4 ChangeLog: * Modify pairparsevalue to deal with embedded NULLs better, and use the binary versions of attribute values in rlm_ldap. They have noticed that binary LDAP values get truncated on embedded zero characters (\0) in RADIUS replies, in radiusReplyMessage in particular. I.e. for radiusReplyMessage:: cmVwbHkgd2l0aCBhAGI= The response output by radtest was Reply-Message = 'reply with a' The network capture also showed that RADIUS reply packets contained truncated values. Is this intended, or was there a fix for this? In related discoveries, it seems that backslashes get removed from LDAP attribute values in RADIUS replies, so radiusReplyMessage: reply with a\0b becomes Reply-Message = 'reply with a0b' in radtest output. user-group for rejected users

Hello! Let´s suppose the following situations: 1) User exists but the password is wrong 2) User does not exist In both cases the answer is REJECT. It happens that certain hardware is making endless attempts that eventually saturating the server. - It is possible to cause the server, instead of rejecting the users, accept the login but responds ACCEPT with "framed-pool = pool-block" ? or/and - Is there any way to put REJECT users in a given group by default? We provide AAA services to a variety of client businesses across North America, and we use FreeRADIUS as the final piece of our authentication process. Because our clients' customers are unknown until they attempt to connect to the network, all user radius credentials are created dynamically, after an initial authentication via another method (typically, credit card charges, access codes, etc.); once that initial auth is complete, we create a credential using the user devices' MAC address to ensure uniqueness, and to facilitate the MAC auth feature of the gateway devices we employ, which permits immediate reconnection following idle time-out without having to open a browser (a limitation of the gateway devices). Of concern to us is that we don't want a user to authenticate in one place of business for which we provide service, then move to another client site, at which MAC authentication is enabled, and have the device automatically connected at the second location. This is mainly due to differences in service offerings at different client sites. What we're looking to do is create an additional table in the radius database. That table would contain the following fields: id primary table key callingstationid self-explanatory nasid identifies the specific site the user is at, and corresponds to our own internal site id nasportid the vlan the user is in groupname the group to which the user is assigned in radusergroup As we create each user's credentials, we'll populate this new table with the information indicated. For each VLAN the user connects to, there would be a separate row so that, as he moves from vlan to vlan, we can update the group assignment in radusergroup so that he'd get the proper group attributes. Does this sound like something that could work? If so, I need a bit of help understanding where we'd put the table query (and the construction of it) in whichever file it should be in (e.g., sites-enabled/default?). The goal is to perform the query, and if there's a corresponding row match, do an update on the username in radusergroup to set the proper group id, and then continue normal processing; if there is no match, we'd simply reject the connection, which would force the gateway to redirect to a captive portal server for initial authentication, as described above). For me, the sticking point is where and how to put the SQL query, so I'd appreciate any pointers I can get. And, too, if there's a better way of doing this, I'd welcome any advice! No Logon Servers error with FreeRADIUS + NTLM

Hi, I know this is not a problem with FreeRADIUS, however, there are several people on this list who run FreeRADIUS with Active Directory as a back end and I need their advice on this. I've run into the dreaded "No logon servers (0xc000005e)" error with NTLM. In the past I've found that the computer password for the server expired on AD and that it was either fixed by rejoining, or by tweaking the password's expiry. Do any AD folk on the list know what we can do to get this stable and that this does not occur again? Hi list, we're about to move from a freeradius (freeradius-1.1.3-1.6.el5 on CentOS 5) to a HA freeradius (freeradius-3.0.4-6.el7.x86_64 on CentOS 7) environment. We're almost there, however, I ran into an issue: I have to rewrite an "%" character to "@". My 'hints' file on the old installation did this perfectly well: DEFAULT User-Name =~ "bla\-bla\/([^%]+)%kroenchenstadt.de" User-Name := "%{1}(a)kroenchenstadt.de" However, freeradius BLA throws an error (running as 'radius -X' for debugging purposes): (0) ERROR: preprocess : bla\-bla\/(^%)%kroenchenstadt.de (0) ERROR: preprocess : ^ Invalid variable expansion Any idea what goes possibly wrong here? Outstanding requests increasing until max_outstanding

Hello, I have a pair of FreeRADIUS (2.2.5) servers acting as load-balancers for a pool of authentication servers behind them that has been running flawlessly for about a year except for one thing. When I look at the list for my auth servers using radmin I get the following: radmin> show home_server list 10.0.0.100 1812 auth alive 150 10.0.0.101 1812 auth alive 223 10.0.0.102 1812 auth alive 130 10.0.0.103 1812 auth alive 114 Where I believe the last column is the number of outstanding requests for each home server (please enlighten me if I am wrong about that). Now the problem I have is that that last number (of outstanding requests) never goes down significantly. It fluctuates a bit during the day, but the trend is clearly up. This morning it was showing the following... radmin> show home_server list 10.0.0.100 1812 auth alive 140 10.0.0.101 1812 auth alive 220 10.0.0.102 1812 auth alive 109 10.0.0.103 1812 auth alive 114 And yesterday it was radmin> show home_server list 10.0.0.100 1812 auth alive 102 10.0.0.101 1812 auth alive 30 10.0.0.102 1812 auth alive 78 10.0.0.103 1812 auth alive 75 And last Friday one of the counters hit 65535 and all proxying to that home server stopped even though it was still responding (and was marked “alive”). I believe that counter is incremented once every time a request is proxied and (should be) decremented every time a reply is received or it times out. It does look though like there may be a case where the counter is not decremented. So my questions are: 1. Do I understand this correctly? 2. Is this a known issue? 3. If so, is it fixed in the latest of v2? or v3? 4. If it’s not an issue, what could I be doing wrong? I have no problem with the answer being “Upgrade” as long as I know that this is something that is indeed fixed in the version I’ll be upgrading to. These servers have performed so well up to now that I have not had a compelling case for upgrading. This could be just it. FreeRadius - Version porting

Dear Friends, We have customized module (lib) written for freeRadius version freeradius-server-2.2.0. The same code can be reused for latest version of free Radius (say 3.0.9). Provided all basic message structures are remain same (in both versions of free Radius). One basic questions, We were having child hung issue at free Radius due to slow response from external module. once free Radius server (version 2.2.0) goes to child hung state then we have to restart the server (though the external module resumed after 1-2 minutes). Is there any throttling done at Free Radius server (latest version 3.0.9)? so that when external module response is slow, Radius server would not fill the queue with incoming messages (from NAS). i.e. taking messages into queue and run into child hung issue. It uses throttling to have control over pending request queue when there is a slowness in the external system and queue size increases (since NAS is flooding the radius server). HI. I've been trying to fix this problem for weeks: The user "daniel" belongs to usergroup "wifi". In radgroupcheck I set the attribute Auth-Type := Accept for the group "wifi". When I try to connect from the terminal, server returns an Access-accept message, but however i can't still connect, screen of my device shows an eternal loop trying to connect but it doesn't do.
