Hi everyone,
Our (Red Hat) QA was testing the effect of this entry in 3.0.4 ChangeLog:
* Modify pairparsevalue to deal with embedded NULLs better,
and use the binary versions of attribute values in rlm_ldap.
They have noticed that binary LDAP values get truncated on embedded zero
characters (\0) in RADIUS replies, in radiusReplyMessage in particular.
I.e. for
radiusReplyMessage:: cmVwbHkgd2l0aCBhAGI=
The response output by radtest was
Reply-Message = 'reply with a'
The network capture also showed that RADIUS reply packets contained truncated
values. Is this intended, or was there a fix for this?
In related discoveries, it seems that backslashes get removed from LDAP
attribute values in RADIUS replies, so
radiusReplyMessage: reply with a\0b
becomes
Reply-Message = 'reply with a0b'
in radtest output.
Is this intended?

Hello!
Let´s suppose the following situations:
1) User exists but the password is wrong
2) User does not exist
In both cases the answer is REJECT.
It happens that certain hardware is making endless attempts that eventually saturating the server.
- It is possible to cause the server, instead of rejecting the users, accept the login but responds ACCEPT with "framed-pool = pool-block" ?
or/and
- Is there any way to put REJECT users in a given group by default?

Hello,
Please help me set up freeradius2 + iODBC + Informix
(I'm newbie in freeradius).
- I have a test-machine with Ubuntu 14.04 and Freeradius-server
v2.1.12.
- I have a server with Informix Database Server v 10.00
Step 1:
- I installed unixODBC on test-machine
- I installed informix-csdk for connect to Informix Database
Server (Driver)
- I configured files /etc/odbc.ini and /etc/odbcinst.ini to
connect to Informix Database Server
- Checking with isql:

Good afternoon,
As I told on a previous email, we are migrating previous radius (2.1.9)
authentication to a new instance of freeradius (3.0.10).
I am experiencing some problems authenticating some devices.
I have previously tested with eapol_test that the new freeradius is working
ok with both:
- EAP TTLS - PAP
- PEAP - MSCHAPv2
But when testing PEAP on some devices, it is not working properly.
It looks I am getting authorized properly, and even authenticated:
(11) [mschap] = ok
(11) } # Auth-Type MS-CHAP = ok
(11) MSCHAP Success
But I am not getting a final Access-Accept (nor an Access-Reject), and it
the authentication fails....
Any idea where could be the problem?

We provide AAA services to a variety of client businesses across North
America, and we use FreeRADIUS as the final piece of our authentication
process. Because our clients' customers are unknown until they attempt
to connect to the network, all user radius credentials are created
dynamically, after an initial authentication via another method
(typically, credit card charges, access codes, etc.); once that initial
auth is complete, we create a credential using the user devices' MAC
address to ensure uniqueness, and to facilitate the MAC auth feature of
the gateway devices we employ, which permits immediate reconnection
following idle time-out without having to open a browser (a limitation
of the gateway devices).
Of concern to us is that we don't want a user to authenticate in one
place of business for which we provide service, then move to another
client site, at which MAC authentication is enabled, and have the device
automatically connected at the second location. This is mainly due to
differences in service offerings at different client sites.
What we're looking to do is create an additional table in the radius
database. That table would contain the following fields:
id primary table key

nasid identifies the specific site the user is at, and
corresponds to our own internal site id
nasportid the vlan the user is in
groupname the group to which the user is assigned in
radusergroup
As we create each user's credentials, we'll populate this new table with
the information indicated. For each VLAN the user connects to, there
would be a separate row so that, as he moves from vlan to vlan, we can
update the group assignment in radusergroup so that he'd get the proper
group attributes.
Does this sound like something that could work? If so, I need a bit of
help understanding where we'd put the table query (and the construction
of it) in whichever file it should be in (e.g.,
sites-enabled/default?). The goal is to perform the query, and if
there's a corresponding row match, do an update on the username in
radusergroup to set the proper group id, and then continue normal
processing; if there is no match, we'd simply reject the connection,
which would force the gateway to redirect to a captive portal server for
initial authentication, as described above).
For me, the sticking point is where and how to put the SQL query, so I'd
appreciate any pointers I can get. And, too, if there's a better way of
doing this, I'd welcome any advice!

Hi,
I know this is not a problem with FreeRADIUS, however, there are several people on this list who run FreeRADIUS with Active Directory as a back end and I need their advice on this.
I've run into the dreaded "No logon servers (0xc000005e)" error with NTLM. In the past I've found that the computer password for the server expired on AD and that it was either fixed by rejoining, or by tweaking the password's expiry.
Do any AD folk on the list know what we can do to get this stable and that this does not occur again? Any ideas will be very useful.

Hi list,
we're about to move from a freeradius (freeradius-1.1.3-1.6.el5 on
CentOS 5) to a HA freeradius (freeradius-3.0.4-6.el7.x86_64 on CentOS 7)
environment.
We're almost there, however, I ran into an issue: I have to rewrite an
"%" character to "@". My 'hints' file on the old installation did this
perfectly well:

Hi all,
A segfault report sorry.
Arran and Alan Dekok kindly helped me here with expanding variables from dynamic indexes, which works fine, as long as the variable is plugged into a string value. I'm trying to retrieve an integer value in the same way.
Ideally, I'd like to expand in an if statement and compare, i.e. if ( "%{xlat:control:Tmp-Integer-1[%{control:Tmp-Integer-0}]}" > 1 ), rather than plug into a variable and then compare there, but maybe that's a step too far?
It works fine plugging the variable into a string, xlat seems to cast fine, even if we do an if ("%{xlat:control:Tmp-String-1[%{control:Tmp-Integer-0}]}" > 1 ), so the workaround is obvious, just thought I'd best let you know about the seg anyway.

I am pretty sure my approach to this is all wrong so I've decided to seek
the help of the experts.
I have configured a FreeRADIUS server that authenticates our wifi users
with EAP-TLS and will also authenticate users for our network devices. Our
network devices are mainly Cisco and I need these devices to authenticate
users based on their Active Directory credentials. Wifi portion is
complete, but having trouble with using FreeRADIUS to check AD credentials
correctly. I decided to use MSCHAP (my mistake I believe) for
Authentication and my "radtests" are successful, but when trying to log
into a switch I set up for testing I am unsuccessful. I believe the switch
only uses PAP and does not have the capability to use MSCHAP but I am
unsure of how to set up PAP to query AD or somehow convert the PAP request
into an MSCHAP request server side. Can anyone tell me the best most secure
approach to accomplishing my goal (if possible, I must suck at Googling)?
In the future I'd also like to assign Cisco priv levels based on groups a
user belongs to in AD. Below is debug output showing first a successful
radtest and then the unsuccessful login into the switch.

Hi!
I've been looking through the wiki, but thus far, I've not found
anything that describes what I'd like to be able to do.
We manage on-site hardware for our clients, and that hardware includes
routers, gateways, switches, etc. What I'd like to be able to do is
assign a user to a group dynamically, based on some identifying
parameter received in the access request, and then have the group's
attributes passed back in the access accept packet.
So, for example, if any user wants to connect to Vendor A's gateway, we
might have a group defined for that type of device containing:
vendor_a_gateway Idle-Timeout = 900
vendor_a_gateway VSA_1 = xxx
vendor_a_gateway VSA_2 = xxx
vendor_a_gateway VSA_3 = xxx
Likewise, for Vendor B, we might have the following:
vendor_b_switch Idle-Timeout = 600
vendor_b_switch VSA_1 = xxx
vendor_b_switch VSA_2 = xxx
vendor_b_switch VSA_3 = xxx
Ultimately, then, if a user logs on to a device that we can categorize
as being Vendor A's gateway, we'd automatically associate that user with
the group "vendor_a_gateway", and so on. In that way, we hope to limit
the number of attributes we need to manage for each user, instead having
a short list of groups with attributes that can be assigned on the fly.
I don't know if I've explained this in a way that makes sense (I hope it
makes sense to someone!), but I wonder if there's a way to do what I've
described.
