You can add the user your server runs as to the wbpriv group. Otherwise
change the winbind_privileged folder to be readable by the user/group that
freeradius runs as (which will get reset each time you patch samba).
Anyway, run latest 3.0.x release and use winbind natively instead! 2017 is
the year when ntlm_auth for freeradius becomes history! :)

We are currently testin Freeradius 3.0.15 on Ubuntu 16.04 servers.
Accounting logging is enabled for Interim-Updates from our Wireless Aps and we are sending accounting information direct to our Palo Alto firewall test box via syslog on port 514 (UDP).
This is to collect username and IP address of users logging into our wireless network. This is working fine.
We have noticed via Nagios and top command that the freeradius service is using 99%+ CPU Load for long periods. Is there anything we can do to the configuration to reduce the load on the server?

Hi all,
My work is taking another look at options to enable user management with a number of third party online services. Primarily to use with AWS, Github, and Datadog.
I have been looking at options such as the new AWS SSO product, OneLogin, Okta, etc
Is anyone using FreeIPA with one of these types of services?
Is there any safe recommended method for configuring an external facing read-only replica/user account to connect to online services?
We can look at installing another on-premise app to handle the integration if required, but I am hoping we can connect FreeIPA to one of these services directly.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Dagan McGregor

Dears,
How do you do ?
I appreciate your urgent support regarding vAAA dimensioning, now I have a 800 transactions/sec from P-GW to vAAA so I want to deploy this vAAA using freeradius v.3.0.15 so:
1. How many VMs do I need for the vAAA ?
2. What are the VM requirements needed: CPU, storage and RAM for each VM ?
3. What is the CPU to be used ?
Waiting for your prompt response.
Best Regards,
Nader Nassef Zaki

I am running FreeRadius3.0.15 on ubuntu16.04 and testing EAP-FAST right now. I made these modifications:
- uncommented section “fast” in mods-available/eap file:
- cipher_list = “ALL:!EXPORT:!eNULL:!SSLv2”
- disable_tlsv1_2 = yes
Is there something else that I need to configure?
The wireshark captures show “Ignored Unknown Record” error at the time of TLS Accept. FreeRadius debugs also show some error in TLS Accept.
What am I missing?
This is the debug output of “freeradius -X”:
root@freeradius:/etc/freeradius# freeradius -X

Hi,
I used to specify an AD group with a command such as:
/usr/bin/ntlm_auth --request-nt-key --username=%{Stripped-User-Name:-%{User-Name:-None}} --domain=DOMAIN --require-membership-of=DOMAIN\\ALLOWED_GROUP --challenge=%{mschap:Challenge:-00} --nt-response=%{mschap:NT-Response:-00}
I'm now using winbind with freeradius.
mods-available/mschap:
winbind_username = "%{mschap:User-Name}"
winbind_domain = "%{mschap:NT-Domain}"
Is there a require-membership-of alternative for winbind?
Thanks,
Vieri

Hello,
I emailed in about a week ago trying to get eap+ttls configured to work with my MacBooks and mobile devices. I have finally gotten that working. However now i'm running into another issues. We had to do a code upgrade on my wireless to support TLS 1.2 which is now done.
Right now i'm facing an issue JUST on Mac OS X High Sierra where it is not able to authenticate. In order to get the mobile devices working on my test SSID I had to disable EAP+TLS termination from the Access Points to the FreeRADIUS server. I have EAP+TTLS setup to use PAP beacuse I'm authenticating to LDAP/FreeIPA.
This is working for Mac OS X 10.11.x, 10.12.x, Android 6 & 7, but not for High Sierra 10.13.x. I am still working on procuring a Apple Mobile device that is on the latest code.
So i'm trying to figure out if I need to change the config slightly but not 100% sure.
But here is my debug output right now:

Hello all,
I have google authentication Free Radius server. It is running Ubuntu. It is for 2 factor authentication for our Horzion View. Since yesterday afternoon, this radius server stopped working.
It won't authenticator any domain users anymore.
I ran radtest from the box itself, it gave me err message:
radclient: no response from server for ID 88 socket 3
In the radius.log:
Thu Dec 7 11:02:07 2017 : Error: Discarding duplicate request from client localhost port 50181 - ID: 222 due to unfinished request 0

Would you please tell me how to solve the issues?
Thank you

I want to use FreeRadius for 802.1x authentication. I have a cert that's
provided by an equipment manufacturer which I need to "install"/import into
FR. Can someone point me to documentation to accomplish this? I don't
want to generate a cert. I want to import key/cert, etc provided by the
equipment manufacturer.
Thank you.
