Regarding this message in radius.log:
Info: Dropping packet without response because of error: Received packet
from A.B.C.D with invalid Message-Authenticator! (Shared secret is
incorrect.)
I would like to suggest to include the name of the client stanza that
received the packet. This makes it easier to identify the source in some
scenarios. In my case, on a server that has many virtual servers, each
listening on individual ports, with overlapping client subnet
definitions (i.e. the server's port number that was contacted is
important to identify the listen config; something which the client name
would give away).
Alternatively, adding just the port number that the packet was received
on would also be sufficient. I suggest the client name by preference
because that makes the reporting in line with other errors (e.g. "Login
incorrect (Home Server failed to respond): [abc] (from client
CLIENTS_61783_5-20..."
IOW, it would be nice if the error message above could read
Info: Dropping packet without response because of error: Received packet
from A.B.C.D with invalid Message-Authenticator! *(from client
CLIENTS_61783_5-20)* (Shared secret is incorrect.)
or
Info: Dropping packet without response because of error: Received packet
from A.B.C.D *on port 61783* with invalid Message-Authenticator!
(Shared secret is incorrect.)

If you have EAP-TLS or RadSec configured, you probably want to update OpenSSL:
https://www.openssl.org/news/secadv/20220315.txt
This isn't an issue in FreeRADIUS but a malicious person can use WiFi + EAP-TLS to "lock up" the RADIUS server. The only fix is to either disable the use of client certificates, or to upgrade OpenSSL.

Hi,
I'm struggling by configuring the accounting for logs of module sqlippool (messages exists/success/clear/failed/nopool) (freeradius 3.x).
I would like to have these logs directed to my stdout as I'm using freeradius into a docker container and also the main logs of freeradius are directed to stdout.
I found a way to log them via linelog but I need the logs to be directed to stdout. The module linelog does not support it ;(
Is there a way to log the attribute %{control:Module-Success-Message} that contain these information to the standard radius log module?
In that way I will find sqlippool logs "mixed" with the other freeradius logs (as was in the 2.x freeradius release).
Probably the right way it's via the update/control directive but I didn't got lucky by reading the docs and experimenting...
Can a freeradius expert point me to the right direction?

I have configured a freeradius V3 with automatic VLAN assignement, all work fine.
I want to know how it is possible to assign a VLAN depending on the IP source Adress.
For Exemple :
If user A connect freeradius from 18.18.18.18 (public ip) ==> Assign VLAN 1
If user A connect freeradius from 22.22.22.22 (public ip) ==> Assign VLAN 3
If user A connect freeradius from 34.34.32.12 (public ip) ==> Assign VLAN 22

CentOS 7, with pretty much a default installation of FreeRadius.

Hello,
I’d like to ask what is the correct way to redefine some main sql queries in mods-config and don’t change default files so any updates won’t stop asking what version I want?
Let’s say I need to add few more conditions to “authorize_check_query” in sql/main/mysql/queries.conf. Editing this file directly will make future updates stops, asking me which version to use (in case this file is changed in new version)
I’ve created new file with redefined query and included that file at the end of the rlm_sql instance definition, right before include of default queries.conf with other queries definition. Based on debug output, I can see that authorize_check_query contains my changed SQL query.
The question is, is this correct way to do this or is there better one?

The first certificate I've issued will expire next July: Is there a way to extend the life of this certificate?
What are the best practices to manage certificates under Freeradius environment?
