Special WIFI Router MAC check for the user’s first connection. I’m using free radius server 2.1.11 on Linux Enterprise Server 6.1. OS: Linux Enterprise Server 6.1 Radius: free radius server 2.1.11 Database: Mysql WIFI AP: Use WPA/WPA2 There’re about 100 WIFI APs in the network. All these APs use this free radius server. The whole thing is working fine. Now I got a requirement, this requirement need to check the WIFI AP MAC address for user’s first login. For example, WIFI AP 26, has the MAC address MAC26. I need ensure one WIFI user, say user 58, must connect to WIFI AP 26 for the first time. After the first connection, user 58 can connect to any WIFI AP in the network. Can someone give some advice on how to do it? Thanks! Tom

For 2000 machines, I would suggest using rlm_passwd. See the "man rlm_passwd" page for an example of setting up groups based on User-Name. The same method can be used to set up groups based on Client-IP-Address. Till now, all devices we use send the NAS-IP-Adress. Perhaps we have the same device running, or getting the same problem in future. If there is really a problem on the device, a case at cisco from two customers will surely help to speed up the work. ;-) Jan

Unfortunately I wear a number of hats and this is an R&D project that got back burnered with school starting. So....the delivered key didn't have the TLS Web Server Authentication usage, so I looked at the certs in use on our production radius boxes and that cert did, in addition to being a domain wildcart cert so I could safely transfer it to my dev box. So....moved the working certs (both server and CA) to the dev box, made sure the configs pointed to them, checked the password to the private key and fired it back up. I also made sure Win 7 wasn't validating the CA cert just in case it wasn't happy with Globalsign. Still no love. Fresh logs attached.... Hi All, I am a complete noob about radius - and freeradius, so please forgive if the question is silly. For a project I would like to develop, I would need to be able to retrieve the ip of a device wireless-connected to an access point that use freeradius for "authentication". I created a testing user and set up the client "secret", and I am able to connect the device (a mobile phone) to the access point authenticating it with the freeradius, but in the log what I see is the client's (i.e. the access point) IP, the clients (AP) mac, and the device mac. Is it possible to have the device ip sent (and stored) somehow to the freeradius? I read something about ip pool, but I have the impression that it can't be used in this setting. Thanks Gabriele
