I'm reading:
http://deployingradius.com/documents/configuration/certificates.html
It mentions,
"You need to edit client.cnf only if you are using EAP-TLS. If not, then
that file can be left as-is."
Though it doesn't say, I'm assuming i need to edit the [req] and [client]
sections? For the [client] section, do I need an entry for every unique
client I plan on deploying a certificate to? I'm asking because I don't
understand the emailAddress and commonName fields in this context.
Finally, is there any documentation on how to scale this solution up to
support 15k-20k users? I'm hoping something like LDAP or RDBMS is an
option?

Matthew has tagged version 3.2 here:
https://github.com/FreeRADIUS/freeradius-server/tree/v3.2.x
We will use 3.2 as the new "minor features" branch. Matthew has already pulled in a few PRs. Version 3.2 (and any later 3.x) will also be 99.99% compatible with 3.0. So the upgrade process will be painless.
We have now marked 3.0 as "security and bug fixes only". There will be no new features in 3.0. We will continue to maintain both the 3.0 and 3.2 branches for the foreseeable future.

Hello,
We have Freeradius 3 running successfully - we updated from Freeradius 2 a
couple months ago. We encountered a problem with NAS running Coovachilli
for captive portal authentication which was working before. Even if the
uamsecret is not set SQL logs the radcheck attempt with the correct
password but with a leading "0x" - it seems it is rejecting the access
request due to that 0x being in front.
Is there a way to modify freeradius to strip that "0x" so that we can get
successful authentication or maybe force taking CHAP-Password parameter as
User-Password?
Please let me know if I should ask differently or include some more
information.
Here is the debug file:

We have released version 3.0.25 today.
Thanks everyone for your patience after the issues with 3.0.24 -
hopefully not repeated this time...
This is a bugfix release.
- `correct_escapes` has been added back into the default configuration.
- A segfault when trying to proxy to zombie home servers has been fixed.
- A number of other small bugs and compiler warnings were fixed.
- Added support for building with PostgreSQL 14.
Many thanks to those who helped track down the segfault, which was
particularly tricky and took a number of days to trigger. It had been
added as part of another bug fix. :(
Packages, Docker images and source tarballs are all available in the
usual places.

Hello,
I work for a K12 school district. We have a functional freeradius setup
providing authentication to our Aruba wireless network. Unfortunately, the
technician who set up and managed both the wireless network and radius left
suddenly a few weeks ago with no notice and no knowledge transfer. I am
looking for an expert to help us overcome an immediate need to enable 2
additional wireless controllers to communicate with our radius servers.
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Dave Baird

It's all good I won’t bother you anymore. I have decided this project is too advanced for my current knowledge base. Have a wonderful rest of your work week.

Hello,
I'm interested in RFC 6218 support for FreeRADIUS, so that it can be used with Cisco equipment in FIPS mode. I see that https://github.com/FreeRADIUS/freeradius-server/issues/2264 was previously opened about this, but that it's not accepting new interactions on GitHub due to prior off-topic comments. Is this still something that's planned to be implemented at some point? If not, is it something that a PR could be accepted for?
Thanks,
Joseph C. Sible

Hello,
I'm trying to setup a freeradius v.3.0.20 server using LDAP with MFA
(Google authenticator).
The LDAP part worked, however, since I added the MFA configuration, it
doesn't work anymore, it seems that the password are not even checked
against the ldap database (Windows AD).
I followed this tutorial to get it working:
https://sysopstechnix.com/enable-2fa-on-freeradius-with-openldap-users/
Here is part of the logs :

I thought I had put the IP address 172.xx.x.x/18 in the correct spot for it to allow any requests from my APs through and be authorized but I keep getting this error.
Ignoring request to auth address * port 1812 bound to server default from unknown client 127.0.0.1 port 52623 proto udp
Anyone have any ideas exactly where I am supposed to put my information in?
This is where I placed in it the clients.conf file
client localhost {
# Only *one* of ipaddr, ipv4addr, ipv6addr may be specified for
# a client.
#
# ipaddr will accept IPv4 or IPv6 addresses with optional CIDR
# notation '/<mask>' to specify ranges.
#
# ipaddr will accept domain names e.g. example.org resolving
# them via DNS.
#
# If both A and AAAA records are found, A records will be
# used in preference to AAAA.
ipaddr = 172.xx.x.x/18

Hello everyone!
I’m writing here because of a problem I’m having trying to do a specific
thing with FreeRADIUS 3.0.17.
For a university project, I need to setup a malicious access point that
lets everyone connect to its Wi-Fi network in order to perform some traffic
analysis.
Previously, using FreeRADIUS v2.2.8 I managed to do this by simply putting
update control {
Auth-Type := Accept
}
in the authorize section of the inner-tunnel. Everything worked fine and I
could connect to the Wi-Fi network using any combination of username,
password and authentication method (PEAP/TTLS for phase 1 and any other
method in phase 2).
Recently, however, I had to switch to a Raspberry Pi 3B+ to use as access
point. Here I downloaded the 3.0.17 version, which is the only one
available through apt-get.
Configuring v3.0.17 in the same way I did with v.2.2.8, however, I get
really weird results. Basically, using iOS (14, but I don’t think it’s a
matter of version) I can still connect to the same Wi-Fi using any username
and password. If I use Android, instead, I can’t connect even using the
correct password. A subportion of the logs I get from running in debug mode
is this one:
(8) eap_peap: Session established. Decoding tunneled attributes
(8) eap_peap: PEAP state send tlv success
(8) eap_peap: Received EAP-TLV response
(8) eap_peap: Client rejected our response. The password is probably
incorrect
(8) eap_peap: ERROR: We sent a success, but the client did not agree
(8) eap: ERROR: Failed continuing EAP PEAP (25) session. EAP sub-module
failed
(8) eap: Sending EAP Failure (code 4) ID 179 length 4
The log in its entirety is attached at the end of this post.
So FreeRADIUS sends an Access Accept, but the mobile phone rejects it.
Again, this only happens with Android smartphones, not with iPhones. The
method I use, now only works for TTLS/PAP, not for PEAP or TTLS/MSCHAP.
Is there still a way to accomplish what I could do in v2.2.8 but in
v.3.0.17? Did anybody notice a different behavior between iOS and Android
smartphones?
Thanks everyone!
