I'm trying to enable tls caching on my radius server. the radius -X output
is included below. I'm also including some additional information for
reference. Looking at the debug output I see where the cache config is
loaded and it looks right to me. I don't see any errors around it.
I'm expecting to see a file in the tlscache folder after a successful auth,
however the folder remains empty.

Looking at replacing sql_log from v1
Module has been removed in v3 but 3.0.19 still ships with radsqlrelay.
radsqlreplay(8) still refers to rlm_sql_log
I tried this and it works:
sql sql_auth_log {
driver = "rlm_sql_null"
post-auth {
logfile = "${logdir}/auth_log.sql"
query = "INSERT INTO authlog ..."
}
}
and: radsqlrelay -x -d mysql ... /var/log/freeradius/auth_log.sql
Just wondering if there are better ways of doing this as looks like
radsqlrelay might not be supported anymore ?
Inserting during auth is not an option as it slows down server and master
might not be available for regional nodes.
Another option might be to proxy auth logs as radius packets (buffered) to
central radius server which will insert all requests whenever db is ready.
Thanks,
Artis

Hello everybody,
is there a way to forward radius-request, coming with a specified NAS-ID to a virtual server?
e.g. Radius-request sends username "john", password "doe" and nas-id "foo". Radius-server detects the nas-id "foo" in the request and forwards it to the virtual_server "bar".
Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
Working with some colleagues, we have found a breaking change in behaviour between (believe it or not) 2.2.x and 3.0.x for the Juniper mirror attributes, below:
ATTRIBUTE ERX-LI-Action 58 integer encrypt=2
ATTRIBUTE ERX-Med-Dev-Handle 59 octets encrypt=2
ATTRIBUTE ERX-Med-Ip-Address 60 ipaddr encrypt=2
ATTRIBUTE ERX-Med-Port-Number 61 integer encrypt=2
The make_tunnel_password function sets a tag of 00 now for these, where in 2.2.9 it does not. Juniper routers implementing this expect a salt+password, but not tag.
These attributes are encoded correctly in an Access-Accept, but not in a CoA.
This looks to have been changed for both Access-Accept and CoA 10 years ago in c5aa669eeb6, and was fixed for Access-Accept in 5dcd6495fcd.
I’d like to submit a patch to fix this, mirroring the functionality of Access-Accept only encoding a tag if has_tag is set in the dictionary, but, not sure if this will break things in other dictionaries… Is there a difference between tunnel-password encryption between CoA and Access-Accept, or, should we trust the dictionary for both here?

Hello Alan
Where should I put ‚update reply {…..‘ you’ve wrote me, I mean which file is concerned ?
What do you exactly mean with ‚right sql queries‘?
Will it be also ok to work with a $Include File /etc/raddb/mods-config/file/authorize? But I have to make a cronjob which stop/starts the radiusd every 5min – that wouldn’t be a fine solution….
P.S.: I’ve wrote you that I’m a pure beginner in Freeradius World 😉
Br,

Hi List,
I'm trying to get EAP-TTLS up but im stuck at some point.
According to the docs when I see a lot of diagnostics on the screen ending with "Sent Access-Challenge Id ... " and no further
response the client does not like the certificate.
First I tried it with Certs from the organisations CA but that showed the symptoms above.
Now I created the certificates with the provided scripts in the certs subdir and imported the CA Cert on the client and made it trusted
but no change. So Im stuck here. The Client is Apple IOS.
Could you please help.
Thank you
Ekkehard

What you are trying to do:
I setup my home wifi hobby project based on this tutorial: https://codebeta.com/unifi-with-freeradius-part-1-setup-radius-with-mariadb…
This works very nice with dynamic vlans and everything. The next step is to roam my laptop/mobile phone between my location and a friends house. For us this is a learning hobby project.
Why you are trying to do it:
To make a roaming ssid between my location and the house of a friend.
I added a test realm to proxy.conf
realm somedomain.tld {
}
Wen I test to authenticate with eapol_test with test(a)somedomain.tld it does not work if i test again without the realm part the user does authenticate then it does work.
Last 2 weeks I read a lot about it, I read the comments in the configuration files again and again, I read most of the freeradius documentation because I didn't want to ask nobody for help. I read many mailing list posts. I tested numerous things but all comes down to the same problem over and over again.
I setup a fresh new install of freeradius, because that was advised in some of the mailinglist posts, on a clean new Debian 10 Buster vm. Added the realm into proxy.conf and created a testuser in the users file and everything works with and without using the realm in the logins with eapol_test. Great thit is what I want but then with my database users.
The moment I start implementing the things of this tutorial (https://codebeta.com/unifi-with-freeradius-part-1-setup-radius-with-mariadb…) again things start to get wrong after I use the database users. Whitout the realm part in the username I can authenticate, with the realm in the username I can't authenticate.
What you expect the server to do:
What I would like the server to do, besides what is in the tutorial above, is that the database users authenticate with and without the realm in the username. And eventually i want another realm of the domain of my friend to proxy his user logins to his freeradius. So we can roam our laptops and mobile phones between our locations.
Wen I use eapol_test with a database testuser without the realm in the username auth works. Wen I add the realm to the username auth doesn't work anymore.
I also tested with nostrip in the local realm that didn't worked either. I think the nostrip is only needed in the realm of the proxy-ed radius server to my friends house. I will add this part later because I want first solve this local realm problem.
What the server does instead:

Hai,
Im new here, so please be nice if i missed a thing.
Im having problem to get my ntlm_auth working with freeradius.
My Setup:
Debian Buster
Samba 4.10.7 ( running winbind only )
My winbind auth works fine, server is domain joined.
Squid is also configured on this server which also uses winbind and kerberos for authentication.
SSH uses kerberos authentication, and im using nfsv4 kerberizes automounted homedirs for the users.
This all works fine.
Now im adding freeradius.
So i hope with a little bit of help, someone can point to me what i did wrong.
Im following the site http://deployingradius.com
Steps 1-4 all done and all working.
Only i use my own certificates here.
This is the running samba config :
[global]
# Auth-Only setup with winbind. ( no Shares )
workgroup = NTDOM
security = ADS
realm = MY.REALM.TLD
netbios name = HOSTNAME

I've proceded to : http://deployingradius.com/documents/configuration/active_directory.html
I've edited : /etc/freeradius/3.0/users and tested it.
radtest user password localhost 0 testing123
This all works with : DEFAULT Auth-Type = ntlm_auth enabled.
Im now at : Configuring FreeRADIUS to use ntlm_auth for MS-CHAP
Now i remove DEFAULT Auth-Type = ntlm_auth from /etc/freeradius/3.0/users
I edited : /etc/freeradius/3.0/mods-available/mschap
As suggested on the site, but that did not work.
I used:
ntlm_auth = "/usr/bin/ntlm_auth --request-nt-key --allow-mschapv2 \
--username=%{mschap:User-Name:-None} \
--domain=%{%{mschap:NT-Domain}:-NTDOM} \
--challenge=%{mschap:Challenge:-00} \
--nt-response=%{mschap:NT-Response:-00}"
Tried with and without the --mschapv2 and/or the --domain=%{%{mschap:NT-Domain}:-NTDOM}.
That did not work when testing with :
radtest -t mschap bob hello localhost 0 testing123
Or with
radtest -t mschap username password localhost 0 testing123
Where this username and password is 10000000000% sure correct. ;-)
I also noticed these :
# winbind_username = "%{mschap:User-Name}"
# winbind_domain = "%{mschap:NT-Domain}"
# and i checked that lbwbclient is installed. libwbclient0:amd64 2:4.10.7-0.1~deb10
But also did not work.
Note,
# An alternative to using ntlm_auth is to connect to the
# winbind daemon directly for authentication. This option
# is likely to be faster and may be useful on busy systems,
# but is less well tested.
This is one i like but first i need the basic ntlm_auth working.
Or kerberos auth, i have not added the radius/SPN yet to the keytab file.
When i now run radtest username ... .. This is the output.
What im a doing wrong, or what did i miss.
radtest -t mschap username password localhost 0 testing123

Is it possible to obtain the attributes associated with a user defined in a
Radius server, after having authenticated the user? My guess is that such
attributes can only be retrieved as the successful response to an
Access-Request, embedded in the Access-Accept message.
Thus, if one wants to obtain such attributes again, the authentication must
be completed again. Is this correct?

Thx for quick response. I've a few question. I've already started with impleting it with mysql(Table with two fields,vlan(macs with type varchar(40) and vlan with type int(1)
Where and how can I configure how to deploy it into mysql?
