Hello! I have a question on dialup_admin: I have configured freeradius to authorization by LDAP and authentication by EAP and it works fine. Now I want to log the activity of my users with dialup_admin, it's necessary that I use sql for authentication and authorization? or I can use EAP and LDAP again and dialup_admin only for log? If yes, I must add the entry in the database (mysql) for any user that can access to my network? excuse me for my bad english... I looked through the source code to the rlm_mschap now and have found where I believe it is falling over. It tries to get the 'User-Password' attribute first (which it fails on, I don't have one), then it tried to get the 'LM-Password' attribute which it also fails on. After dealing with that it tries the same thing with 'NT-Password'. For some reason it isn't pulling these attributes out of mysql.. After looking at the debug output from freeradius, the sql statement that it executes when it receives an authentication request should return the LM-Password and NT-Password. When I try to authenticate it gives me the error : " rlm_mschap: No User-Password configured. Cannot create LM-Password." " rlm_mschap: No User-Password configured. Cannot create NT-Password." And a couple of lines later I get " rlm_mschap: FAILED: No NT/LM-Password. Cannot perform authentication." I'm not sure why it isn't picking the attributes up.. FreeRadius Logging Abilities

I am totally lost here. I am getting this type entry in my radius.log listing the radius server contacting us. Sat Oct 1 12:05:07 2005 : Auth: Login OK: [user@domain] (from client upstream-radius5 port 7490 cli 2199340456) and I have a lot of useless (to us) account log directories in the radacct logging directory. What I want to do is lower the amount of detail in the accounting logs to a single file that can be rotated or just do away with it. We run 90% as a proxy server anyway, and the accounting tables in the database provide us with any reports we need. What i want to see in radius.log is an entry like this showing the nas-ip host/node name instead of radius client: Fri Sep 30 20:04:37 2005: Auth: Login OK: [user@domain] (from nas nas5.tempe1.az.us.da.qwest.net/S7428) socket 0 (0 sec) I have searched through the examples and text in every config file in the /etc/raddb and cannot find a way to accomplish this. The FreeRadius logging options look quite powerful so I am assuming there is a reasonably easy way of doing this that I am missing and/or not comprehending. I tried commenting out the detail area to eliminate accounting logs, but then radius complained bitterly about not having a detail section. Any clues how to accomplish this goal? The wanted format for radius.log is an absolute must. The entire log is useless to us showing the contacting radius client. We need to know the network node they dialed into. -- Chuck

radgroup mysql question

Hi, About two years ago I setup a freeradius server (as well as integration with their accounting system) with a mysql backend. Now, I need to make a change and I'm looking at either rewriting the programs or (hopefully) just making some changes to the configuration/database data. Basically I added a group to radgroupreply with all the attributes that a normal, authorized user would need. I added the user default to that group and enabled default_user_profile in sql.conf. Additionally, we created a "suspend" group that gave an Access-Reject. Anyone suspended by the accounting program is added to this group. Later, we made a change... suspended accounts were allowed to connect (Access-Accept), but they were given specific Ascend-Data-Filter packets in order to restrict them to one server that allows them to make payments. The default dialin group also has Ascend-Data-Filter packets (to restrict access to port 25 and 119 beyond our network). The problem with this setup is that when a "suspend" user authenticates to the freeradius server, it first grabs both the attributes associated with the 'suspend' group AND the 'dialin' group. This means that we are sending two blocks of Ascend-Data-Filter attributes. With most of the equipment, this didn't cause a problem.. it took the first group and ignored the rest. However, we have recently started using some equipment that is reading both and ends up allowing suspended users' traffic out. So, that is the situation. Basically, without individually putting every current user into the dialin group (which involves a major software re-write), is there a way to define a set of reply packets that every (valid authenticated) user will receive, unless they are in a group. Or, to ask that a different way, people in the group "suspend" should receive only the reply attributes associated with the GroupName "suspend". Everyone else should get a different, default set of attributes (wether defined in radgroupreply or radreply makes no difference to me). Host B acted as both proxy/server. for realm A , -> proxy to other server for realm B -> process locally When the auth-accept is returned to proxy ( Host B) , it will process section [post-auth] in radiusd.conf no matter what host B receive. Q1. Any method such that host B won't goes into [post-auth] when it is receiving result from another server ? Q2. In case host B cannot bypass [post-auth] when receiving result from another server, how can I define multiple sql section in [post-auth] ? rlm_sql (sql): Unsupported Acct-Status-Type = 15

I am using FreeRadius 1.0.5. I have configured accounting with sql. When I run radiusd -X and watch what happens when I try to pass a record to FreeRadius, I see the following: rlm_sql (sql): Unsupported Acct-Status-Type = 15 modcall[accounting]: module "sql" returns noop for request 1 vi /usr/local/etc/raddb/dictionary $INCLUDE /usr/local/share/freeradius/dictionary $INCLUDE /usr/local/etc/ser/dictionary.ser vi /usr/local/share/freeradius/dictionary <snip> VALUE Acct-Status-Type Failed 15 </snip> vi /usr/local/etc/ser/dictionary.ser <snip> VALUE Acct-Status-Type Failed 15 # RFC2866, acc </snip> I've tried removing $INCLUDE /usr/local/etc/ser/dictionary.ser from /usr/local/etc/raddb/dictionary but the problem persists. I'm sure there's a configuration step I've missed. Could anyone suggest some other things to check? Thanks Cameron

First thing, the FreeTDS files have been removed (more like abandonded) from FreeRadius. If you really want to call FreeTDS direclty, you will have to download the files from the "attic". But more than that you will also have to update the files as they do not currently compile properly, they are a bit old. I would suggest to go with unixodbc or iodbc, even though using FreeTDS is IMHO the best way, it's not supported. Second, in order to get MSSQL to work with the current version of FreeRadius 1.0.5, you will need to install either unixodbc or iodbc. I chose unixodbc; and in doing so it requires FreeTDS. So install both FreeTDS and unixODBC. Third. You will need to include mssql.conf and call rlm_sql_unixodbc. The mssql.conf has to many tricks to it. First the default driver is invalid and the "server" is really the DSN and must match that name found in /etc/odbc.ini. Also /etc/odbc.ini must be readable by the freeradius daemon. Also, there is an extra statement in the mssql.conf that is totaly not used and can be deleted; it's "authenticate_query". These things should help you out. If you need any further assistance, ie. configure/make commands and file contents ask again. Good Luck Duane Hi list, What is the status of MS SQL support for freeradius? Did anyone get it working? And if yes, which version do you use and what is required to get it work? I'm currently using freeradius 1.0.2 on Debian Sarge and I didn't manage to get it connect to the MS SQL server. As the rlm_sql_freetds module states that it is under development ans so, not enabled by default, I was wondering, if the iODBC or the unixodbc modules would work and if yes, how to set this up (aside from freeradius.. seems the 'drivers' are missing, whatever this means). Need some help here. Anyone?
