v3.1.x rlm_json module registers a map function to allow mapping fields from JSON structures to attributes. The path through the JSON object is specified with fr jpath, which is the FreeRADIUS implementation of the jpath grammar described here: http://goessner.net/articles/JsonPath/ rlm_json currently implements a subset of the grammar described by the above implementation. Selectors currently implemented are: - $ Root node (only valid at the start of the path). - @ Current node (only valid at the start of the path). - .<name> A field within an object. - [<idx>] Index within an array. - [<start>:<end>[:<step>]] A slice within an array (identical to the Python syntax). - [<idx>,<start>:<end>] Multiple indexes/slices within an array. - .* All the children of the current node Automatic casting will occur between JSON and attribute types where possible. FreeRADIUS does not currently have a signed64 or floating point type, to map large signed numbers and JSON doubles to. These may instead be written to string type attributes. Assignment of JSON objects/arrays to strings is supported, in which case the JSON serialized form of the object/array is used. If a jpath matches multiple nodes, unless the map includes the += operator only the first node's value will be used. If the map uses += then multiple instances of the attribute will be created, each holding a different node value. Configuring Error with SSL

I get this error when I call configure command: configure: error: openssl library version does not match header version I used this command: ./configure --with-openssl-includes=/usr/local/ssl/include --with-openssl-libraries=/usr/local/ssl/lib I am trying to install freeradius server 2.2.5 and the ssl version I have is openssl-1.0.2d I am using centos 7

Generating CoA

Hi, I'm using freeradius 3.0.8 as proxy, but i can't generate CoA packets to server 10.0.0.1 on port 4141. What i'm doing wrong? Am i missing something? Problem with Simultaneous-Use

Hi, We are trying to configure our WLC Cisco + FreeRadius + LDAP to WiFi web authentication. At the moment, we have configured almost everything, but still we can't enable the Simultaneous-Use feature. LDAP works fine, we don't have authentication problems. We are using FreeRadius 2.1.12 (Centos 5.11). - The command *radcheck* doesn't show anything, and also doesn't work properly in debbug mode. - The *radutmp* file only save the last logged. We have tried a lot of things but nothing works, Can you help us, please? We stay attentive to any question you have, or if you need some log file (in this case, we did not find any relevant file that attach). Thanks in advance. Authentication and authorization with PAM

I have a Linux L system in which the password authentication is carried out against a remote RADIUS server R by means of PAM in L. This works as expected, but I would like to use this mechanism to do authorization chores, besides the authentication ones. As part of a successful authentication, R will send back to L (in addition to the successful authentication packet) a series of attributes that L will interpret as authorization parameters - e.g. a list of groups that the user that has been authenticated is to belong to. My understanding is that the PAM RADIUS module pam_radius.so is the one that interacts with the RADIUS server, and it therefore behooves this module to interpret the authentication information, and act on it. Looking into the documentation for the current pam_radius.so module, it would seem that it contains no support for this - i.e. in order to accomplish what I am describing I need to develop a PAM RADIUS of my own. Is this correct?

Hello, Run into an issue today, which digging in the logs seems to have going on for a while, but somehow became extreme today... Not sure yet what the root cause is.. might not be FreeRADIUS. I have four instances of 3.0.8, running in containers, two per VM. a load balancer routes traffic to the nodes, with username based persistence. We have several Cisco wireless controllers that use this RAIDUS setup.... very frequently, they have been logging that the RADIUS server failed to respond, and log the user name and the station id. I tracked lots of such instances, and found the packets do arrive at the VMs, but no reply is sent out. Sometime later system would respond fine to some other incoming packets! I find nothing in the logs related the failed requests, not from FreeRADIUS and not from iptables... The load on the VMs is constantly close to 0. No RAM issues or any other issues I could see... I doubled the number of FreeRADIUS instances anyway... but the issue persisted. the Cisco's log the errors many times per minute.... I restarted the FreeRADIUS instances few times... to no avail. But then decided to reboot both VMs... and issue seems to have disappeared! At least for now. the uptime on the VMs was 92 days. they are redhat 6.6. any suggestions on how to further debug such behavior, if it were to start again? Thanks a lot, Mohamed.

[ANN] Redis 3.0 support in v3.1.x

Hi All, v3.1.x now supports Redis cluster natively. In addition to the standard redirect mechanism used by redis-cli, FreeRADIUS also maintains a mapping of key slots to cluster nodes, and will update this when it detects conditions that indicate that a failover has occurred. The code used for Redis cluster and non clustered Redis is identical, for the non clustered solution the cluster is treated as containing only a single node. It's possible start FreeRADIUS against a single clustered node, add that node to a cluster, and have FreeRADIUS dynamically discover and map the cluster, at runtime, without restarting. Redis cluster scales horizontally up to ~1000 nodes, though this implementation only supports 255. If anyone needs the full 1000, open an issue on the GitHub tracker, and we'll make the necessary modifications. Redis cluster is supported by rlm_redis, rlm_rediswho, and rlm_cache_redis. For rlm_redis (which registers the xlat), queries may be prefixed with a '-' to enable READONLY queries against slave nodes. The only current known limitation is that connection pool sharing does not work with redis cluster. This will be addressed in a future commit. Next step is to implement SSL session caching using attributes, this will allow multiple RADIUS servers to share SSL session information, introducing the possibility of FreeRADIUS clusters that can handle multiple millions of EAP-TLS/EAP-TTLS/EAP-PEAP users. -Arran

Now its time to configure to log into SQL :) Until now we uses cisco wireless controller and only allow two connection for all users. I wanted to implement Simultaneous-user based in student and staff. and want to use sql for it. My users are authenticate against AD (samb +ntml_auth). So here is what I did : 1. Created database radius. 2. Populated admin.sql into the mysql 3. Populated schema.sql into the radius database 4. Enabled sql.conf in /etc/raddb/radius.conf 5. Disabled radutmp and enabled sql in accounting section in /etc/raddb/site-enabled/default 6. So, added DEFAULT Simultaneous-Use := 2 in /etc/raddb/users file for testing 7. restarted radius - try logging few users But I do not see any tables in radius database been updated. I just wanted to use session for the simultaneous user for restrict user. if this works then I can write regex to query LDAP if x is staff or student. Point me if i am doing wrong or some docs where I can see more reading reading reading. K
