Authcheck table and groupreply table on two different databases

Hello everybody, I’ll present myself as a new subscriber; my name is Paolo, I’m from Italy and I work as sysadm at Università di Urbino. The easy think, the question: it’s possible to setup authcheck_table into a database/host and both groupcheck_table, groupreply_table into a different database/host? Now I’ll try to explain the goal, else if that will be not as easy. Ad maybe someone will lead me to a working solution. Maybe will lead to a quite different approach. We have, of course, down there some nice application to manage things, like student, staff etc.; those applications do have their own proprietary databases and they’re authoritative on fields like anagraphics and else usernames and passwords. In an effort to clean that nightly mess of batch scripts transferring credentials around, we decided to leave data where they live, into authoritative databases. It’s easy to pull username/password from a proprietary database, just know where fields are; but I cannot alter the database’s structure and I need some group related radius attributes, say Session-Timeout. I know what the group is, I just ran a query on a student account so the group is stud. I need now to pass ‘stud’ to an authorize_group_reply_query, but must be on a different database. Any hint? FreeRadius 2 w/ MySQL - Group check issue

I recently setup a freeradius 2 server with MySQL and I am having an issue where it doesn't appear to be doing group checks. rlm-ldap error for chap

with Cleartext-password or User-Password I have the same error. radius -x and my configs for chap are here. I searched a lot and test it but not found why it can't find clear text password. Should I add other thing? or change another file? FreeRADIUS Version 2.1.0 documentation

Where can I find documentation and training material for Free Radius Version 2.10 FreeRADIUS Version 2.1.0, for host x86_64-pc-linux-gnu Ubuntu 9.04. This is the only version that is available from Synaptics Package manager The current version 2.18 does not work in Ubuntu. I tried building the Debina package as specified in http://wiki.freeradius.org/Build#Building_Debian_packages, but it did not work in Ubuntu 9.04. Or how does one get older versions - i.e. Freeradius 1.0? Configuration for the older versions appeared to be easier.

ntlm_auth and Server 2008 R2 issues

We are having the same issue as noted here: http://lists.freeradius.org/pipermail/freeradius-users/2009-November/msg006… I am guessing there is no way to use LDAP for MSCHAP authentication? I have read other posts on the list that have said it won't work (which kind of makes sense to me). However, it sure would be nice to side step Samba on this issue. We are not doing group checking at this point, just authentication. Currently running FreeRADIUS 2.0.3. Any suggestions/comments will be appreciated. I guess my next e-mail will be to the Samba mailing list.... Thanks, Walter

FreeRadius 2.1.3 & SQL error

First question, is the only way to get Accounting data from FreeRadius by using one of the supported databases (like msql)? Is there no way to just cut records to a text file or, ideally, syslog? Second question: I inserted the following sql configuration (supplied to me) into sql.conf but when I start FR, it errors out with this message. list of allowed nas clients for realm

I am running FreeRADIUS Version 2.1.8 with mysql as backend database in lab environment. I am authenticating PPP customers from two different network segments behind two cisco NAS devices. Rejecting users without a realm

I couldn't find an answer to this question in the Archives. I have a FreeRadius Server (2.1.3) and would like it to reject *any* user that attempts login with a realm (user(a)realm.com for example). I thought I could do something like this in the user file: DEFAULT Realm == "NULL", Auth-Type := Reject But it doesn't work. What's the best way to do this? -Mike
