Variable reports null but can be seen in request

I am trying to use a Proxy-To-Realm condition to differentiate between portal VPN logins and SSH'ing into the VPN itself. This is the request I can see for a VPN Portal Auth: User-Name = "bob" User-Password = "bob" NAS-Port = 65536 Called-Station-Id = "1.1.1.1" Calling-Station-Id = "2.2.2.2" NAS-Port-Type = Virtual Tunnel-Client-Endpoint:0 = "2.2.2.2" NAS-IP-Address = 1.1.1.1 Cisco-AVPair = "ip:source-ip=2.2.2.2" Since the attribute Tunnel-Client-Endpoint:0 appears to be unique to VPN Portal requests, I used that for my condition. user belonging to multiple groups in rlm_passwd

Dear freeradius-users, I'm trying to configure different access to users based on group membership. What I would like to achieve is that userA is allowed only through NAS-Port1, UserB through NAS-Port2 and userALL through both. It seems to work OK as long as each user is only in one group. If I put one user in two groups he is not able to login. Same secret? (Noob question)

Hi guys! I don't want to share the radius server secret whith determinate clients. So I choose to configure a radius server as a proxy, to link to the original server and the clients. The question is, the secret between the server and the proxy, and the on between the proxy and the clients, must be the same? Hi Yves, thanks for your response. I understand the difference between the storing gigawords in the database and the sqlcounter response. I do not speak C, but have no doubt that what you are saying is correct. I just find it hard to believe that FreeRadius has such a basic limitation, which it appears can be easily overcome (if you can do so with a PERL script using rlm_perl, it must be possible to do it with C in rlm_sqlcounter, right), but so far no one has bothered to address. While this might have been OK in former times, when data traffic was expensive and limited, in a broadband scenario multi GigaByte data allowances over 4GB per month are very common, and I am gobsmacked that FreeRadius cannot handle what seems a very basic requirement. So accepting the point that this is a limitation of FreeRadius in its current version, I reword my question to Alan: Are there any plans to address this shortcoming of FreeRadius in the near future? Failing that, are there any rlm_perl scripts out there on the wiki or in the wider user community, that can handle gigawords on the radcheck values that actual usage is checked against? My language is PHP and I know from experience that while PHP code can be embedded into FreeRadius, it is probably the least performing option. So I would love to avoid to roll my own in PHP, if at all possible. Hi Phil thanks for answering. I am trying to authenticate the machines on bootup. I have an edir backend and am following this cool solutions article which is fairly old: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/17044.html In it they talk about atrrib-rewrite but use it in the radiusd.conf file which in my limited knowledge of freeradius I think is an older way of doing it. Right now if i join a machine to the samba domain I have created, it automatically is imported into edirectory and named "machinename$". The article is not complete so I am really not sure if the machine is supposed to authenticate to edir or samba during bootup but the end result I want is the machine to authenticate on startup so the user has a single sign on experience like they would if they plugged into the network. Hi, I have followed your advise and I went back to the default config. I have read the: http://deployingradius.com/documents/configuration/certificates.html And I have followed it step by step. Testing first the PAP auth with an entry in users.conf and it worked fine. Next I add the Wireless LAN Controller in clients.conf and change the default eap_type with peap.
