As we're working to finalize v4 (real soon now!) one question which came up is MongDB. The Mongo team is currently looking into creating a fully async API for Mongo. We would need to use this in v4 in order to increase scalability. If we don't have such an API, then the Mongo drivers would be significantly slower than other databases. Authenticate to AD but only allow certain group

All, I've got authentication working nicely with MSCHAP, but now I'd like to only allow users that are members of a certain AD group. I would prefer to have this happen only when requests come from a specific client (wireless access point). In this case the idea is to have users only be able to get wireless access when they're in a specific AD group. How can I do this in freeradius? Thanks, Brian

Can I use diffrent root CA certificates while dynamic loading certificate chains?

Hi, we have a case that, with multi-tenancy, there will be multiple CA certificates in our FreeRadius server, so we need to load the certificate chains dynamically. But when I use the statements below, I can't include the CA certificates in the certificate files I set. The TLS-Session-Cert-File looks like it is only for the server certificate and intermediate CA certificates. Is there any chance of dynamic loading certificate chains with root CA certificates? authenticate cisco nexus 5000 with freeradius

Peace, according to https://community.cisco.com/t5/security-knowledge-base/nexus-integration-fo… the freeradius configuration is as such: DEFAULT Group == cisco-rw, Auth-Type = System Service-Type = NAS-Prompt-User, cisco-avpair := "shell:roles*\"network-admin vdc-admin\"", but it does not mention what section of freeradius to modify, i tried adding all the information to the user, but then free radius wouldn't restart. which means Default group needs to be added to a different section. any help?

logintime replacement

I noticed that the logintime module is not in v4. Is there a recommended way of replacing it or should it be moved to an "external" module, e.g. rest, python? -Stephen

Change Tag in ERX-Service-Activate

Hi, Hoping someone can help. This is using FreeRADIUS 2.2.9. In my RADIUS accept response I need to send the following: ERX-Service-Activate:1 := "HTTP-REDIRECT(SOME-TEXT)" The SOME-TEXT here may differ based on different subscribers but that and the attributes are all configured in a database so I've added this one but RADIUS returns: ERX-Service-Activate:0 := "HTTP-REDIRECT(SOME-TEXT)" i.e the tag is set to 0 rather than 1. I don't have a field in my table for tags as we've never had need for it any before so assuming it just defaults to 0. All use cases I'm going to have are for ERX-Service-Activate to use a tag of 1 and I have no other attributes that use tags. So I'm hoping rather than modifying my database table to add a new tag field and updating the code to use that new tag field that there's a way of just adding a something to the RADIUS config that rewrites the tag from 0 to 1 whenever it sees ERX-Service-Activate:0. Does this sound possible and if so anyone that could help with the config that would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dave

EAP-TLS doesn't work - EAP Failure

Hi everyone, For a few days, I'm trying to test FreeRADIUS server to see how EAP-TLS authentication works on Wifi through a POC first. So far, I think I could advance pretty well since I didn't know very much about the EAP-TLS authentication method. Basically, what I'm trying to achieve, is to make the employees connect to the Wifi using a certificate that would be installed on their computer in the future. Doing that, the wifi would be better secure using a RADIUS with EAP-TLS auth rather than a commonly used password. The expectation using FreeRADIUS is to see this POC working proporly using the method EAP-TLS but I'm at a certain point where I don't understand why I'm not getting an Access-Accept where should contain the MS-MPPE-Recv-Key and MS-MPPE-Send-Key attributes too. Instead, what I'm understanding is, the server output is kind saying "...Auth-Type sub-section not found. Ignoring...." The result is the same coming from either a Windows 10 Laptop with the certs installed and wpa_supplicant though an eapol_test.conf Here is the debug output from the server with the failure at the end EAP-TLS and LDAP authorization

Hello, is the following possible in some way in freeradius 3.2? The freeradius is doing only eap-tls auth. If the eap-tls check was successful, I would like to carry out a second check against an LDAP attribute on the computer object. I would like to build an LDAP filter based on the CN in the requesting certificate and have an attribute returned from the computer object in the LDAP directory. If the value is OK, the device is permitted. Does anyone have some tips for me on how to get started and a few basic hints for implementation this, if this is possible without writing an own module (maybe a similar example)? I'm struggeling on how i can get the CN and pass it to the LDAP module. best regards, Ted

Username not stripped in NPS

Hi all, I would like to configure wi-fi authentication with 802.1x with multiple realms and only one NPS (therefore only one active directory domain). For example: - AD domain -> domain.network - realms that can be used -> domain; otherRealm With PEAP traffic, NPS doesn't allow you to manipulate the realm so I can't use find and replace in NPS configuration. So I tried to send the stripped username from freeradius but the realm still arrives in the NPS with realm and it giving me the error that the domain does not exist. Why the realm os sent even though I said to strip the username in the proxy.conf file? Is there alternatively the possibility to do a find and replace in freeradius? For the moment I'm using UPNs on the Windows server but it's a workaround that I wanted to avoid and which takes away the elegance of the authentication process. Thank you in advance.
