Hello,
I am using FreeRADIUS 3.0.17 in a MySQL setup that seems to not check
radgroupreply.
"radtest" gets user attributes but does not receive attributes of
associated group at all.
Complete debug output of radiusd -X:

Hello
In our eduroam configuration I want to assign a vlan to users based on
edupersonPrimaryAffiliation ldap attribute of the user
unfortunatly , my affectation doesn't match the attribute apparently ,
Here's what I did :
1) I did mapped the attribute in mods-available/ldap
ldap prod {
 server = 'ldap.ourdomain.eu'
...
       update {
               control:Password-With-Header   += 'userPassword'
               control:NT-Password            += 'sambaNtPassword'
#              reply:Reply-Message            := 'radiusReplyMessage'
               reply:Reply-Message            :=
'eduPersonPrimaryAffiliation'
#              reply:Tunnel-Type              := 'radiusTunnelType'
#              reply:Tunnel-Medium-Type       := 'radiusTunnelMediumType'
#Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â reply:Tunnel-Private-Group-IDÂ Â :=
'radiusTunnelPrivategroupId'
#              reply:User-Category                    +=
'eduPersonPrimaryAffiliation'
             *  reply:User-Category                    +=
'eduPersonPrimaryAffiliation'*
               control:                       += 'radiusControlAttribute'
               request:                       += 'radiusRequestAttribute'
#Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â reply:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â += 'radiusReplyAttribute'
       }
2) running radiusd -X I do see the ldap query and attribute returned
correclty
rlm_ldap (prod): Reserved connection (3)
(41) prod: EXPAND (uid=%{%{Stripped-User-Name}:-%{User-Name}})
(41) prod:Â Â Â --> (uid=teststud)
...
(41) prod: Processing user attributes
(41) prod: control:Password-With-Header += '{CRYPT}secretaoSOObH1'
(41) prod: control:NT-Password += secret3735323731
(41) prod: reply:Reply-Message := 'faculty'
(41) prod: reply:*User-Category += 'faculty'*
rlm_ldap (prod): Released connection (3)
(41)Â Â Â Â Â Â [prod] = updated
3) but later from sites-available/default on the post-auth where I check
the attribute value in order to affect Vlan to users :
post-auth {
 $INCLUDE ../vlanaffect.conf
vlanaffect.conf containing :
      * if (*( reply:UserCategory == "employee") ||
(reply:*UserCategory == "faculty"*) || (reply:UserCategory == "staff" )
|| (reply:UserCategory == "researcher") || (reply:UserCategory ==
"member")) {
               update reply {
                       Tunnel-Private-Group-Id :=*903*
               }
when that part of the config is processed by the server, it fails to
match here in that case the /if ((//reply:UserCategory == "faculty")/ !?
so it default (else) to our 902 vlan ID :
(42)Â Â Â Â Â Â if (( reply:UserCategory == "employee") ||
(reply:UserCategory == "faculty") || (reply:UserCategory == "staff" ) ||
(reply:UserCategory == "researcher") || (reply:UserCategory ==
"member"))Â -> FALSE
(42)Â Â Â Â Â Â elsif ( (reply:UserCategory == "student" ) ||
(reply:UserCategory == "affiliate") ) {
(42)Â Â Â Â Â Â elsif ( (reply:UserCategory == "student" ) ||
(reply:UserCategory == "affiliate") )Â *-> FALSE*
(42)Â Â Â Â Â Â else {
(42)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â update reply {
(42)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Tunnel-Private-Group-Id *:= 902*
it is as if the User-Category value (or attribute itself)Â is not known
at this stage .
is there a way to print the value of the an attribute to check it's
*name* and*value* ?
I am confused by the attribute name itself, you might have noticed in my
vlanaffect.conf I use UserCategory but in ldap module it is named
User*-*Category (note the - between User and Category) ! It is so
because if in vlanaffect.conf I name it occordingly to ldap module
(User*-*Category) strangely I get Errors in runing radiusd -X :
(34)Â Â Â Â Â Â if (( reply:User-Category == "employee") ||
(reply:User-Category == "faculty") || (reply:User-Category == "staff" )
|| (reply:User-Category == "researcher") || (reply:User-Category ==
"member")) {
(34)Â Â Â Â Â Â *ERROR: Failed retrieving values required to evaluate condition*
(34)Â Â Â Â Â Â elsif ( (reply:User-Category == "student" ) ||
(reply:User-Category == "affiliate") ) {
(34)Â Â Â Â Â Â ERROR: Failed retrieving values required to evaluate condition
(34)Â Â Â Â Â Â else {
(34)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â update reply {
(34)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Tunnel-Private-Group-Id := 902
there might be a mistake somewhere, but I cannot figure out where , how
can I debug ldap / radius attribute name/values matchs ?
Thanks for your help .
PS: I run :
# rpm -qa | grep radius

Hi,
recently there was a thread about a seemingly correct ntlm_auth setup
that didn't work. Unfortunately, I have the same experience. I want to
set up machine authentication using ntlm_auth against a samba4 AD.
The AD was set up on a Fedora 27 machine using samba 4.7.9 rpms. I used
this guide:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_an_Active_Directory_DoâĻ
Everything worked as described in the guide.
Freeradius 3.0.13 is on RHEL7 using samba 4.7.1 rpms. I was following
this guide:
http://deployingradius.com/documents/configuration/active_directory.html
except for the following:
1. I didn't set password server in smb.conf (samba documents warned
against that, and the config checker also didn't like it)
2. joining the domain was successful except for the DNS update in AD
(but I think that's totally irrelevant to ntlm_auth)
All checks were done as suggested in the guide and they were all
successful until the very last step.
While I got:
ntlm_auth --request-nt-key --domain=EDUROAM-DOM --username=testuser
--password=Testing123
NT_STATUS_OK: The operation completed successfully. (0x0)
and radtest was also successful using DEFAULT Auth-Type = ntlm_auth, the
ms-chap test failed:
radtest -t mschap testuser Testing123 localhost 0 testing123
Sent Access-Request Id 11 from 0.0.0.0:52051 to 127.0.0.1:1812 length 134

MS-CHAP-Error = "\000E=691 R=1 C=4a991b631c3542b4 V=2"
(0) -: Expected Access-Accept got Access-Reject
I checked the link for the samba bug at the end of the guide, but that
bug had been fixed a long time ago, it should not be present in the
samba version I use (and the problem with that was the NT-hash returned,
not the success of ntlm_auth itself).

no matter if I type that on the freeradius machine or the AD, so I don't
think it is a problem with joining the domain.
I really don't see what am I doing wrong, but I'd like to solve this
problem. If any of you successfully implemented ntlm_auth with ms-chap
in RHEL, please tell me how you did it. Or tell me what linux distro and
which recent samba version actually worked for you.
I think even a samba3 style domain controller would suffice instead of
an AD for doing machine auth, is this correct?
I know this is not really a freeradius problem, but I am sure some of
the list members know a lot more about samba then me, so perhaps you can
help me out.
Thank you: Laszlo

Hi Alan,
in your mail from yesterday you wrote:
> Something is very wrong with the Samba / AD infrastructure if MS-CHAP
doesn't work.
I think the problem is in my freeradius config. Now I'm testing to
connect a wireless client with eap-ttls, but it's not working, too.
'radtest' is always successfull, but I can't connect any wireless client.
I would like you to ask two things:
(1) I found this
https://www.eduroam.us/node/90
little tutorial and I transfered the configuration to my version 3.0.16.
Is there anything wrong?
(I didn't make any changes to proxy.conf because I don't understand what
is it doing.)
(2) You will find here my full debug output. Can you see what's going wrong?

Good evening from Germany,
I installed (for the very first time) freeradius on an Ubuntu 18.04 box.
The version is 3.0.16. I would like to use freeradius to authenticate my
users against Samba passwords using ntlm_auth. I followed EXACTLY the
instructions on the website deployingradius.com, beginning from the
initial setup to the last step, "Configuring FreeRADIUS to use ntlm_auth
for MS-CHAP". Only this last step fails, and I have no idea why. This is
an excerpt of the debug output:
***

FreeRADIUS didn't send Tunnel type and Id in Access-Accept while using EAP-TTLS authentication

Hi Team
When I tried to use EAP-TTLS with md5 phase authentication, freeRADIUS
is not sending Tunnel type and Id information to authenticator.
Did anyone notice this problem before?

Hello!
I have certain problems to login as a user via 802.11 Username/Password.
The user and reply-values are working fine, but when I add the huntgroup-name to the user, I always get "Login incorrect" Reject.
Someone hat the same problem?
What can I do?
Searched the web, but found nothing (except some hints of syntax and SQL, not helpful)
Files:
huntgroups WLAN-Users NAS-IP-Address == 172.29.xxx.yyy, NAS-Port-Type == "Wireless-802.11"
users:
This is woking...
Cof23 Cleartext-Password := "xxxxxxx"
Tunnel-Private-Group-Id = 902
Tue Aug 28 12:11:11 2018 : Auth: Login OK: [Cof23] (from client iap600xxx port 0 via TLS tunnel)
Tue Aug 28 12:11:11 2018 : Auth: Login OK: [Cof23] (from client iap600xxx port 0 cli aaabbbccc0ca)
This not:
Cof23 Cleartext-Password := "xxxxxxx", Huntgroup-Name == "WLAN-Users"
Tunnel-Private-Group-Id = 902
Tue Aug 28 11:10:25 2018 : Auth: Login incorrect: [Cof23/<via Auth-Type = Reject>] (from client iap600xxx port 0 via TLS tunnel)
Tue Aug 28 11:10:25 2018 : Auth: Login incorrect: [Cof23/<via Auth-Type = EAP>] (from client iap600xxx port 0 cli aaabbbccc0ca)
What is the problem?
The huntgroupfile is read by freeradius 2.1.2 (in 3.0 with (my)SQL is the same problem!). The users file is ok, what else?
Huntgroups are working for the most other entries we have.
Please help me!

Hi,
Perhaps this has something to do with it?
> (0) sql: Executing select query: SELECT groupname FROM radusergroup WHERE username = 'testuser' ORDER BY priority (0) sql: User not found
Best read the logs .. they offer some valuable insight.
Thanks
Martin.
