Right,
So, this is an authentication on FreeRADIUS 3.0.17 that I've just upgraded to on our 'playpen' network. Previously, it would simply return the User-Name as 'root' (I know, I know...) but now it appears that the server adds the outer User-Name *first*, and then restores the session-state one (which was set by the inner-tunnel as 'root').
This doesn't look right... Alan? Arran?
The /etc/raddb/users file looks like this:

Suddenly my records with “Acct-Status-Type = Stop” have stopped logging to the SQL database.
I am seeing a success entry in the log but a query is not showing any ‘Stop' record.
(1858) sql: SQL query returned: success
(1858) sql: 1 record(s) updated
If I restart the “freeradius” service some new ‘Stop' records briefly start appearing but then it stops.
‘Start’ records are working just fine. My though is that it is updating the ‘Start’ record and not creating a new ‘Stop’ entry when a session is ending as I am seeing ‘acctsessiontime’ values in my ‘Start’ records.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am using radperf to test a new FreeRadius 3.0.16 install.
For network load balancing reasons, I would like the radius packets to have
a good spread of source ports. Radperf (version 1.1b) appears to use the
same source port for each test run. I there a way to have it use a random
port for each request?

Hi everyone,
I don't understand why freeradius set the authentication realm as LOCAL
instead of my domain "esiee.fr". I had to add "realm LOCAL {}" in my
proxy.conf file to make it work.

Hi,
i have FR 3 with mysql. There is no problem with one Calling-station-id -
to wifi connects only with correct mac address. If i add new calling
station id - no one authenticate.
Is it possible to use more that one Calling-station-id?

Hi all,
first of all sorry for my horrible english.
My Question is as follows:
With MS-CHAPv2 the client sends a peer-challenge, a nt-response and
username to the server.
Then the server calculates a challenge with help from the
peer-challenge and the username
of the client. I hope my understanding is correct so far.
But what is the next step?
Does FreeRADIUS decrypt the "client-nt-response" (encrypted challenge)
and compares the result
with its own calculated challenge? Or does it calculate its own
"server-nt-response" and compares
this to the received "client-nt-response"?
I have found both possibilities in some documentations. I can not read
source-code of programs
(rlm_mschap) and RFCs are something for Developers only i think.
Can someone help me please?

Hi to all,
I'm using two fortigate instances in gcp for redundancy.
Because of google restrictions I can't use them in HA mode so
load-balancing does the trick for me.
I have identical access policies on fortigates based on user group.
User group is delivered to fortigates by RSSO (RADIUS SSO) by sending to
them accounting packets.
I use two FreeRADIUS 3.0.15 servers on Ubuntu 16.04
I have 3 LDAP modules for 3 LDAP servers in redundant-load-balance mode
User can be in several groups so I
edited /etc/freeradius/mods-config/files/pre-proxy to reflect group needed
for me to assign access to user in Reply-Message attribute:

And I've enabled replicate module in server configuration:

Finally, my problem.
The problem is that I see accounting copy on second fortigate, *but without
groups*.
I realize that I replicate accounting to new realm and my pre-proxy file
will not work for it so that't why I included in pre-proxy second file with
that realm:
/etc/freeradius/mods-config/files/pre-proxy:
$INCLUDE /etc/freeradius/mods-config/files/pre-proxy.fortigate02
/etc/freeradius/mods-config/files/pre-proxy.fortigate02:
fortigate02 ldap01-LDAP-Group ==

And this should work (I think). Or not?
Tell me please, is my idea right for things I want to do?
Should I use replicate module in accounting (as it's said in module
description) or in preacct (besause i do group filtering and group
attribute assigning in it)?
