Hello, I installed a CentOS with freeradius 3.0.20. And I'm a bit confused how to configure it to make it work with an AXIS P8221 I/O Audio Module. In the section 802.1X I uploaded the certificate I geneated with freeradius Makefile from the directory /etc/raddb/certs/ I uploaded the CA certificate and the clients one and client ons plus the key. But when I have to set the EAPOL version, EAP identity and password I don't know what specify and how to configure freeradius to match that parametes. Can someone help me? I tryed to configure a simply user with a password into /etc/raddb/mods-config/files/authorize : testing Cleartext-Password := "password" And using a freeradius client from an ArchLinux client it works doing command line call. But I don't know how configure the AXIS module. Can someone help? I configured the Layer 3 switch correctly to send the freeradius packet to the correct IP address and it works. I mean enabling to use the swicth port to get authentication against that freeradius. But the configuration lack of the correct part. Giovanni

Client issue with FreeRADIUS 3.0.22

I have installed FreeRADIUS 3.0.22 for the first time and run into an issue. Although it loads clients, it does not recognize them as valid NASes. This is my debug output. FYI: I use a custom MySQL SPROC to load the clients and it returns a result set that is perfeclty compatible with the original FreeRADIUS provided query. PEAP/MSCHAPv2 with FreeRADIUS vs NPS

This is possibly more an NPS question than a FreeRADIUS one but possibly someone here might know what to do, we're using a third-party embedded RADIUS client to authenticate to both FreeRADIUS and NPS with PEAP/MSCHAPv2. The client is sending completely standard PEAP messages to both, but while the exchange with FreeRADIUS works fine, with NPS it's rejected with either Reason Code 1/An internal error occurred or Reason Code 66/The user attempted to use an authentication method that is not enabled on the matching network policy. The NPS server admins insist that it's configured correctly and claim that since eapol_test authenticates to it the problem is at our end. Whatever NPS is doing it's quite weird and required reverse-engineering wpa_supplicant to figure out, for example it sends back an undocumented vendor-specific EAP request (vendor ID = 311/Microsoft, vendor type = 34, data = 00 00 00 01) when we're expecting an MSCHAPv2 Challenge while FreeRADIUS behaves as expected. At the moment we're stuck with finger-pointing, from our point of view whatever NPS is doing isn't anything like what the spec says and things work fine with FreeRADIUS so NPS is broken, from their point of view eapol_test works with NPS and so there's something wrong with our client. If this situation is ringing any bells with someone I'd be interested in any information we can use to move forward, and can provide more details on any part of the PEAP exchange if required. JG.

Setting the standards

After some "behind the scenes" wrangling, we've managed to get some new values defined for Acct-Status-Type. These values are especially useful to vendors who have one RADIUS client which controls multiple subsystems. i.e. a WiFI Access Point, where all of the RADIUS packets come from the controller, but each individual radio may have many users. If the radio reboots while the controller is still up, there was no way in RADIUS for the controller to signal that. It would have to send multiple accounting packets, one for each user on that controller. With the new values defined, the controller can just say "subsystem 1 stopped". Problem with Anonymous Identity

Hi fellow FreeRADIUS users, I ran into a problem with the Anonymous Identity. We are on FreeRADIUS v.3.0.19 with MYSQL. When Anonymous Identity is configured on the client for PEAP authentication, it will fail. Server log (please see below) shows that the RADIUS service didn’t use the real username when comparing the username and password. Instead, the Anonymous Identity was used to compare against the database which caused the authentication to fail. However, if we do not use the Anonymous Identity, then it will pass. Does anyone know how to authenticate with Anonymous Identity configured?
